The Catawba County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) is a locally appointed board, with members drawn from a list of statutorily recommended community representatives involved with youth.
It exists to:
- Identify risks of youth in the community of becoming court involved.
- Review court data and identify needed programs to provide juvenile delinquency intervention and prevention services.
- Develop a list of funding priorities and solicit proposals from community providers annually for funding provided by the State through the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (DPS) to each county.
- Make recommendations to the Catawba County Board of Commissioners for the NCDPS funding.
- Monitor funded programs to ensure compliance with policies and approved program funding agreements.
